ABOUT

Hello, I'm Kate and I'm an animal artist based in the East of England.  I've been married to my husband Harry for 18 years we have a teenage son,  and I have two older step children.  We live in a tiny house with two dogs, a 2 and half year old German Shepard,  an 9/10 year old pug and  a cat who thinks he is a dog.   My love for art and drawing started at a very young age drawing horses mainly and when I was a teenager I painted two huge murals of tigers on my bedroom walls.  When I left school I was unsure about what I wanted to do as  a career and because I was good at art my parents suggested I attended the local college.  I did an Art and Design taster course that allowed me to try various art related roles such as photography, still life and textiles to name a few.   Sadly during that year I developed the terrible condition Impostor Syndrome and that was the end of my drawing and painting for a huge chunk of my early adult life.  Although I always maintained being creative in other ways such as scrap booking and miniature making.

Then 2020 happened !!!

With all the time that lock down afforded us  I started to pick up my pencils once again.  Drawing portraits of people, drawing animals, drawing pretty much anything I could find, just experimenting, learning to understand values, watching youtube videos and really honing my skills as an artist. I experimented with graphite, with watercolour, acrylic and oils ,  but I soon discovered coloured pencils and the unique way in which they can be layered.  I haven't looked back, I was hooked. The more I drew the more confident I became, the more I showed my art to friends and family.  Soon I was  being asked by friends to produce pictures of their pets.

And now I'm creating a website and spreading my wings.

I am very pleased and proud to be creating art pieces that bring huge amount of joy and wonderment to my customers.  I hope very much to continue to grow my business and reach out to many more across the UK and the world.

Perhaps you too can come and help me to fly.

When I'm not drawing you will find me dog training or dog walking.  Since 2022 I have been volunteering at On The Scent Dog Training School where I have been honing my skills as a dog trainer and this year I am starting to teach classes and private lessons.   So if you are in need of dog training and you are in the East Anglian region then please head to www.onthescent.co.uk.
